lately i've come to the decision that i'd really like to work in a bakery, preferably in Italy somewhere. Sarah isn't adverse to the idea of living in Europe, so for the time being, she's humoring my silliness. when i move to tuscaloosa, since it'll be a few months before the bike shop is even hiring, i'll have to get a job elsewhere for a while, ( Read more... )

I love the Bianchi Milano, but I've accepted my fangirlness and really want a Giant (I wish I could get one in T-Mobile pink, but no such luck, I believe).

pearl izumi makes nice jackets, so you might want to check out their stuff at http://www.pearlizumi.com

unfortunately, the only jackets that are completely waterproof are pretty pricey, but the lower-priced ones (like the zephrr and instinct, for example) are pretty water resistant, so if it's just raining a bit, you won't get too wet, but if it's pouring, you're pretty much fucked.

a lot of companies make really inexpensive clear rain jackets, but they tear up really easily and breathability is for shit.

if you need some more ideas, let me know

I've been lucky enough to be able to go to Rome twice - the best place ever. Amazing artwork, vegan food, clubs and restaurants, awesome hardcore kids, great public transportation. If I had to go somewhere else to live, it would be Rome at the top of the list, followed by Helsinki and New Zealand.

i actually grew up in Germany, and i was lucky enough to go back for a week earlier this year. the entire time i was there i just felt like Europe was where i belonged, and i can't wait to go back. i've never been to Italy, but it's totally a dream of mine. i may try to do a frame course there if i can come up with an extra $3500 or so, plus airfare. i suppose time will tell

I think it would be great to work at a place where the whole point of going was to give joy to others, however it is difficult to manage such ideals in the real world. For me, I put my artistic aspirations on the backburner because I know that it would be a lifelong struggle in order to be able to provide as well as be happy. If I can provide for a wife, for a family, their happiness from my provision is all of the joy I would need. Its too bad really, the world should pay in happiness.
