I find it bizarre that Bush can even speak of moral leadership when vetoing the stem cell legislation while the utter disaster that is Iraq continues, never mind the recent flare-up between Israel and Hezbollah.

Anyway, here's a nice, angry post on the American Prospect's blog that says it better than most.

The potential trumps the actual in most things, here and abroad.

People who are alive are manifestly corrupt, decadent, immoral, and vacuous (of course! whee!); in the crucible of the womb they're all beings of light and unbounded promise.

Which promise seems to promptly die out when those lumps of rapidly differentiated stem cells enter the public school system, for some reason or other. Possibly exposure to paste does it.

They're innocents with tons of potential right until they're born.

Obviously, not the healthiest way to think about humans.
