I personally get annoyed when people tell me I am american--but I don't have citizenship nor do I really plan to live here. But when people who are born here and totally have the culture say "well, I'm that and that" ... pfffft! Yeah right.

Yeah. She's a second generation Greek-American, her mother was born here but her mother's mother was from Greece and her father was from Greece. So, she's American, she's got no right to say that the US is not her homeland just because she doesn't like the way they use it inside the phrase "homeland security."

Man, I wish my grandma was more liberal rather than being a catty, conservative old Catholic bitch with a stick up her ass. Wanna switch?
(She's also dead, but I figure that makes for awesome one-sided conversation.)

I don't think Canada deals in that home/mother/fatherland jazz. We're just... here. You might live here, your home might be somewhere else... Who cares?

YEAH SURE YOU CAN TAKE THE CATS

Normally I don't care but it was just like...her VEHEMENT DECLARATION that the United States could never be synonymous with "homeland" for her when by definition that is exactly what it is.

And I get kitties, too? Sweet deal!

Well, if she doesn't think of it as homeland... *shrugs* She doesn't. Isn't it a thing about Greek culture anyways where Greece always is the homeland/what have you (for instance, where gals who aren't in Greece are expected to go back and find a nice Greek boy to marry, etc) anyway?

Kinda sorta, there's a certain amount of pride for Greece, but my thing is that if she isn't willing to call the land where she was born and grew up her homeland then why the fuck ISN'T she moving to live in Greece instead, if she hates it here so much?

As a liberal I take offense at being associated with your dumbass grandmother. :|

If you live here this is the land that is your home therefore homeland = appropriate word although it sounds pretty stupid the way the gov't/DoD uses it....

oh and the concept of "THAT'S NOT MY FUCKING JOB" is lost on most people 'cause if you're associated with xyz in any way you obviously should know everything about it. D:

It's okay, there are sane liberals, she's just radically left-wing =|

thats how everyone thinks! i swear not just your gramma. When I worked at Best Buy I worked in the CD and DVD department and this guy asked me about clocks and teased me and hit me in the back because i knew nothing about clocks! This jack ass was such bastard. Just because I worked at Best Buy I'm supposed to know everything about every single product we carry! That sort of thing really makes me frustrated, especially when they get mad at you about not knowing it.

People need to learn to understand the term "job description."

What bothers me is she mocks you, furthers baits you into a supposed battle, and then just ignores you when she was the one who started it.
And usually having people around who act like they know everything is very annoying -_______- Especially when they think they are being cute/funny when they try to mock you, make fun of you, or show off what they know.

Exactly, that's exactly it! She thinks she's funny when she's really offensive!
