I really loved Alex's and Christine's scene in Steve's office. Very raw. And not that Steve has never confronted his Mother, but we finally get to see him pulling out the stops in this one--his anger, frustration, sense of betrayal, all spilling over when he accuses his Mother of never once telling him the truth.

And then calling her on her 'hurt feelings' act. GAH!

The quick scene between Catherine and the Navy guy ex was a bit puzzling. My guess is that he joins Five-O next season while Kono's gone. And my fear is that there's some kind of trite jealously thing between him and Steve which ends in Navy guy tragically dying. No, show, please don't go there. Please.
I can't agree more. I don't want to see that ( ... )

Yeah, I was all 'please, Steve, don't fall for the hurt feelings' thing and was so glad he didn't! Of course, I wish he had had that conversation 12 episodes ago, but it's a good start.

I'll have to rewatch that bit with Chin to see if he says something else to Kono. Very interesting. And oh yes, that would be awesome if we get Steve and Danny out in China to look for Doris. (It was China, wasn't it?)

I have to agree with all of that. With Steve and Doris, I was so frustrated with the lack of advancement. The whole teasing that we're going to find out and then having it interrupted just got ridiculous by the end. It would've been far better storytelling, IMO, to let us know what the secret was and then spend the summer wondering how they were going to react to it and deal with it.

The way they did it felt a bit lazy, like they didn't have anything better in mind for cliffhangers or like it's not a good enough secret that the reveal would've been effective enough to sustain conversation through the summer.

Of course, they did leave us open for a summer of increasingly ridiculous fics about what the threat is on the other side of the door... ;-)

And like Steve would let it go at that, with Doris. He didn't mention it at all when they were on the dock, he pretty much acted like nothing was wrong between them. Then again, I guess he was grateful for the protection she was offering to Kono?

It did feel lazy, and it also felt like the writers haven't yet decided what Doris' big secret was going to be. Which is...lazy.

Oh yes, bring on all the ridiculous fics. I'm contemplating one with the id monster, from Forbidden Planet. :D

It's a fun ep, as long as you don't think too hard during it. :D The ending is entirely over the top.

I did like Kono telling Danny, "You'd miss him in a week." That was adorable. :)

Way too much going on overall, though. What the heck even was the point of New Navy Guy, unless they're setting up a jealousy love triangle for next season. UGH. Do not want.

The Wo Fat storyline could be quite interesting, depending on who's behind the door!

That was very cute, Kono telling Danny he'd miss Steve. Because of course he would!

The jealousy love triangle thing would be kind of awful, wouldn't it? Although Danny's observations on it would be pretty entertaining. :D

I'm with you on pretty much all of that. The thing about Doris and Steve is that they've both had secrecy drilled into them, so it doesn't surprise me that they act the way they do. Trouble is that it doesn't really make for good television not having anyone tell you what the hell is going on! :D

I'm hoping the seekrit Wo Fat business is that he's an agent and Doris is his handler/controller/whatever. The other possibilities just make me queasy.

And I adored Chin's "follow your heart" moment. I thought that was such a telling thing for him to wish Kono after all of his own heartbreak, and his doubts about Adam. He's such a softie!

Which means I'll have to go home and rewatch Steve&Danny in a boat this evening to make up for it.

Ahaha! That is EXACTLY my thought, too! I have a feeling there is A LOT of watching Steve-and-Danny-inna-boat in our future. *clings*

Considering how determined Steve is to find out things like what Danny is eating for lunch, I find it hard to believe he wouldn't be all over trying to figure out what Doris is up to. On the other hand, Doris is good at deflecting and using the mother card and anything else she has to avoid spilling her secrets. But you are right, it's not good TV when a plot doesn't move at all for an entire season.

I'm pinning my hopes on the handler thing too. Because otherwise, please no.

The whole Chin and Kono and Adam thing really was touching. Chin is a class act. He loves his cousin so much, it's a joy to see. And Adam is one giant marshmallow too, I swear. Not exactly crime lord material there.

The Doris thing is very puzzling, because it's not as though they wouldn't still have great stories to tell AFTER we all know what the hell is going on. I mean, there's so much potential for all of the characters in that. I really hate putting things down to bad writing, but it's hard to go with anything else, really.
