Eventually, insomnia (that's what Ronan was going to blame it on, at least) caught up to him. Eventually, he had to sleep. And even though he'd fought it for so long, he also had to dream.

Cosette had heard the shout from down the hall right as she'd gotten out of the stairwell, but it wasn't until she opened the door and spotted Ronan that she realized where it might have come from.

"Is everything all right?" she asked, quickly shutting the door behind her again.

Which -- clearly -- it wasn't, but it seemed rude to open with a politer version of 'you look terrible.'

Had she paid closer attention, she might have noticed the scars, but she hadn't.

"No, I can't imagine it would be very pleasant." Cosette went back over to the desk, pulled a small foil packet out of the first aid kit, then paused. "I can't very well toss this over my shoulder and hope you can catch it," or she could but it would be mean, "so you'll just have to risk my seeing. I promise not to stare."

"I don't care if you see," Ronan said, shaking his head. "Just don't question it. Don't ask me anything about it and we're all good."

Cosette sighed, but nodded. At least she was used to this sort of thing, with her father almost never volunteering any information about himself.

"That doesn't mean I won't wonder, when you say that, but I promise I won't ask. There, see?" She turned around and brought the ointment over. "I'm afraid this won't make it disappear right away but it ought to help."

"It doesn't need to disappear right away," he told her, pulling the shirt away and glaring down at the jagged claw marks that were oozing blood. They weren't too long but still fairly deep. "Just needs to stop bleeding."
