I'm playing a lot of old games myself. I recently finished up Fable II in about every possible way. As I'm 'between' the big games, I've found myself playing three games simultaneously.
Oh yes, back in the day. It was actually my second real RPG (my first was Super Mario RPG).
There's a place in Junon where you can fight monsters that higher level than you're supposed to be able to. They give a decent materia reward, so I used double growth materia and weapons to fight them until Cloud was about level 40 (I think I started at level 25...) I've got at least 3 Master All materia now and all the cash I could need.
I'm up to Season 5 now. The first season was horrible and I almost gave up on it, but it's steadily improved. For me, it hit its stride in the third season. So I've been liking it a lot. I still can't get over this amazing phenomena of recurring characters! Star Trek: TNG was horrible about that, but somehow DS9 somehow manages to have a consistent set of people showing up.
I've always thought that was a weakness of Star Trek with its rotating door of extras. In contrast, you take a show like Scrubs or Battlestar Galactica, and you have people in the background who might have one or two lines but show up consistently on the show in the background. In the case of BSG, it made the death of redshirts seem to actually matter.

My brother also has been playing Castlevania lately. What I'm basically saying here is: are you plagiarizing his life? ;D
Oh, and the answer to the last question is: Probably never. :D
