The Boss took an unnervingly long time with my new would-be coworker - and he emerged from her office looking a lot whiter than usual.
She gave him a little push as she acknowledged me with a jerk of her head. "Night, Harper."
"Night," I echoed as Felix Panagoulis staggered towards me. I raised an eyebrow at him, but whatever discussion he'd had with the Boss, he didn't seem up to an explanation.
"You don't have a car, do you?" he said. When I shook my head, he gestured for me to follow him. "I'll drive you home. You still don't look good."
I never do, I wanted to tell him, but somehow I didn't think that would help my cause
