Tonight, the fox makes sure she sits a good distance away from the smiling woman.
"Am I pretty? Am I beautiful?" She asks the the little boy next to her - he doesn't reply, glancing away and ignoring her. The brush-off does not seem to affect her; she continues crooning and giggling to the boy.
"Someone stop her," the man-bird complains as he shifts on his stone.
"Kuchisake--", the boy begins.
"Am I beautiful? Am I pretty?" She whispers, and her smile is too wide and too sharp, her pale fingers cradling his face lovingly.
The boy frowns.
The nue lets out a sigh and examines her paws.
"Why did we invite her again?" The fox mutters.
"Because she found the child," her neighbour adds. Damn kappas, always eveasdropping on everything.
"You're too close, duck boy," The fox snarls as she bares her fangs and waves her tails around her.
"Ladies," the nue growls, "please."
The nue eyes the body on the ground - it was still warm, and she was hungry. So very very hungry
