There were times when she slept --driven by boredom, injury, or just the sorrow of being alone-- centuries passing by before something woke her again. She left behind the collection, the stone corridors, the dim filtered light of the sun. She sank to the bottom, through sharp edges of the ravine, into the dark where no other dwells.

It was here that the true treasure lies, swaddled in the remains of silks and leathers, vestiges of that time before. Still, always still, never changing even as time and she herself changes. She carries a part with her always, but it only serves to remind her of the missing whole.

She carefully cradles it, curling around it until all is covered. She settles and, when the dust no longer is stirred, sinks even further into herself and then the remains of a whole that she always, faithfully, protects.

Still waters go deep. To disturb the water is to disturb what rests in the cold depths below.

Thank you! She is inadvertently very creepy (and difficult to write). I am so glad you liked!

You're so good at these creepy, atmospheric drabbles! I love this. ♥

Thank you! I'm really glad the atmosphere made an impact; it's what I focused on the most.
(Lol, what do you do to me? I keep on doing these drabble-thons and they keep getting creepy. I am so easily frightened and paranoid that I can't watch/read horror so why do I keep writing iiiiiiiiit....)
