Then it's more likely that the load is unbalanced--that means you stuffed too much into the washer and the water didn't have anywhere to go. Have a roommate or someone you know who knows how to use the washer show you how.

It's a high efficiency washer. They use less water and energy and they're wonderful for the environment. Plus they do bigger loads. Some of the companies even use recycled material, now. And there's an artist in Sydney, I think it was, converting wrecked ones into aquariums for deep-ocean fish. Lovely work.
Anyway, the problem's not the door at all, you used too much soap. Or the wrong kind -- you are using a high efficiency detergent, aren't you?
