Maybe that explains why American Psycho is so watchable, despite being a shitty film. It's all about Christian Bale doing his best American accent. Plus it makes everything sound adorable: "You're a fucking ugly bitch. I want to stab you to death, and then play around with your blood."

I totally had no idea that Christian Bale wasn't American until about two weeks ago. I was watching Equilibrium on Film4 when I suddenly got it into my head to read up on Christian Bale on imdb. He had some quote up there about getting his body extra-ripped for American Psycho, to the effect of, "Working out is the most boring thing in the world. I want to be in the pub drinking beer and smoking with my mates, not working out" and my love for him skyrocketed to heaven.

That said, it helps when exceptionally attractive British people affect the American accent. But then again, it helps when anyone exceptionally attractive does anything, so that was kind of a moot point.
