Okay, I know that a bunch of you own iPods, so help me out here. As my last post whines about, my iPod has yet to arrive and I can't experiment hands-on with this function, so all I want is an answer from people who actually own and touch and use their iPods:Is it possible to shuffle individual playlists, and not just all of the music files on the ( Read more... )

as far as I know, no. but such an innovation seems logical considering they release the Shuffle between the 4th and 5th generation iPods.

I just tend to get annoyed and bored very easily if I have to listen to the same songs in the same order. I like my playlists because I can force them to conform to my mood, but if the songs play in the same order to the point where I know what's going to be playing next, I might as well unearth an old walkman and go back to making my 'breakup' and 'working music' and 'sex' mixtapes.

Fuck, if it can't do that then I don't want one. Oh and I want it in black brushed aluminum. And what's the deal with 60GB? That's the best they can do? You'd think by now they'd have a 100GB model, especially with video.

That's precisely what I'm worried about. Even my shit-ass (but now woefully dead) CD/MP3 player can do that.

Now, don't kick me if I'm wrong, but...

If you go to settings, you can turn on/off the shuffle option for songs or albums. If you click on songs, it should shuffle the songs within your selected playlist if you choose to listen to music based on playlist.

It works on my mini.

Ah, interesting! I will definitely give this a try when the machine arrives.

And how do you choose to listen to music based on playlist? Is there some default that needs to be changed, or is it just a matter of clicking 'shuffle' while you're in the process of listening to a particular playlist?

You can select whether to listen to:

Songs
Albums
Genre
Podcasts
Playlists

Select playlists, choose yours, and start playing the songs. As long as you turned on shuffle songs, you will make the songs IN the selected playlist mixup.

Between you and drivelikejehn, it had better work, or I'm blaming the two of you personally. That's right!

go into Settings::Shuffle

and as someone else mentioned you can decide what you want to shuffle through. you can also go into Settings::Main Menu and take the FAKE "Shuffle" option off the open menu. you know, the shuffle that shuffles through all the songs on the back shiny face plate. geesh.

At the moment, I have no idea what you're talking about starting with "you can also go into..." Back shiny face plate? What the hell is that, woman??? Fake shuffle? Real shuffle?

Hopefully you and I will be on the same page when my iPod arrives, which had better be tomorrow. Otherwise I might actually do some work!

I don't have that, but my ipod is older. Shuffle isn't fake on mine.
