Is there a middle ground between 'hide it or die (or be fired, or whatever)' and 'so accepted we must act like infatuated teenagers'?

Uh, yeah, anyway. Infatuated teens is probably unavoidable in a premise that's mostly staffed by, well, teenagers. Which doesn't make the stories any less annoying of course :)
