Speaking as a reader only... ;) There was recently a massive wave of Teyla/Rodney fics that were beyond awesome. It wasn't a pairing I'd thought of before (aside from Team!fics) but the good writing made it a new much-loved pairing for me. I think it was prompted by an event of some sort (a ficathon or a comm or something?). Anyway, that was obviously a good way to prompt a different pairing.

Another promotion would be within the show itself: Jennifer/Ronon fics popped up after that near kiss in season four. Jennifer/Rodney fics popped up after the "we're down here!" episode. And Jennifer/Rodney/Ronon fics popped up thereafter. But the popularity of Lorne/Parrish, despite the fact Parrish was in the show for all of 2 minutes, suggests fandom can be a powerful beastie. (That and the fact there's not been a strong Teyla/Rodney episode, and yet, all that lovely fic. *g ( ... )

Dude, I totally feel you.

I always like the main pairing of any given fandom (Spike/Buffy, Buffy/Angel, Spike/Xander, Sam/Dean, McShep) but I get pairing fatigue. I wanna read EVERYBODY/EVERYBODY *g*

It's frustrating to me when I spend a lot of time writing what I consider to be a rare pairng (Kavanagh/Bates for example) and virtually no one reads, but does it make me lame if I turn right around and write the Wincest that I know will get read? I tend to space out my rare pairings in terms of writing so I don't get just bogged down in the "Nobody loves me!" *wails* LOL

*shrugs* I'll speak for Criminal Minds, here, in that the pairing isn't what I read it for. If it's really well done, I'll read (and enjoy) almost any pairing, even if I personally disagree with a characterization or two. Hee. The only pairing I've yet to see in a way that doesn't squick me out so much it throws me out of the story is Gideon/Reid... because, to me, the negative psychological implications of that particular relationship are staggering ( ... )
