Is almond one of the trademarks in Dior's fragrances? I've detected it in 'Addict', and another Dior one (an Addict variant?).
But I hear you on the memory-laden thing, and the wore each other out thing too. The jolt back into the past is sometimes too sudden. At least with something like music, it's not as offensive, or instant, if you know what I mean? Music, for me at least, gradually recalls memories. Scent jerks you back to the chase regardless of whether you like it or not.
I'm not sure about the almond in Dior, my sis was wearing it the other night but I don't think I noticed any, it might be the vanilla variants giving an impression?

I think I do know what you mean about the music, its memory pull is strong for me, though yes, not as instant and full-on as the sense of smell. Imagine an old song *and* old fragrance at the same time, would be like hopping in a time machine!
