A Plethora of Perfume

Nov 20, 2007 22:04

After being well fed and relaxed from lounging about at High Tea (see previous post), sis and I walked to Martin Place and Castlereagh Street, where there’s a bunch of exclusive shops, such as Paspaley, Chanel, Gucci, Hermes and Escada. We didn’t look in them all, just Prada where my sis wanted to look at the bags, while I sniffed their new perfume ( Read more... )

my goodness I have no idea how you keep on top of it all. I forced myself to stop buying any perfume because I was worried about whatever I had would go off. I will get back on the wagon though next year for sure, your post nearly tipped me over the edge!

Oh no, I'm definitely not keeping on top of things! One thing I wanted to do was review all my fragrances...heh, it becomes less likely every week...I just got another small pile of decants today! I admire you for stopping! I do worry about it going off as well, but most of it seems fine ... at the moment anyway, and some things are a good few years old or more now. lol :P don't let me tempt you...too much!

I tried the Duff perfume, and couldn't scrub it off fast enough. On the other hand, it's been pretty universally liked so I guess that only shows how whacked out my chemistry or nose is. ;)

Oh hey, have you seen the new Beaux Arts collection from Dawn? They're based on the 17-18th century perfume recipes, with all-natural ingrediants (minus the animalic notes, which are synth). I think it's called the Perfumed Court collection. A wee bit pricy, but I'm interested in trying them out when I can scrounge up the funds. (BPAL and Arcana are taking most of my perfume monies this season.)

You're familiar, I assume, with the Perfumed Court decant store (not the DSH line)? I keep meaning to place an order with them for some of the Tom Ford stuff, some Lutens and Guerlain.

ps - ALWAYS love your perfume posts.

I might seek out the Duff perfume next time I'm out...just to see!

Oh dear, no I hadn't seen Dawn's new Beaux Collection, I'd seen some new ones from her but not these. Oh yikes, I just looked at a couple and they sound so interesting...but yes, rather costly! Hopefully I'll get round to trying them one day too.

Gaah, Perfumed Court! I knew a few of the decanters that were on eBay had gotten together, but I didn't know about their website....SO comprehensive and well set up! AND with reasonable shipping! Noooooooooooo! The decants are about the same as BPAL's. Sigh...I'm going to have to get some of those Tom Ford's I mentioned and who knows what else! But I really should wait, I've spent too much this month already and the holiday season is dangerously close!

Sometimes you don't know who's reading, so thanks so much re my posts, so lovely to hear!!

Probably old information for you, but I see maewitch mentioned The Perfumed Court.

Here's the link, just in case you haven't been there:

http://theperfumedcourt.com/Default.aspx

It's the first place that popped into my head when I was reading this post and I wanted to make sure you'd checked them out. After all, those of us who try to sniff everything have to stick together, even in the face of impossible odds. :)

I've bought from them on many occasions, with nary a problem. They have great customer service. Between them and Lucky Scent, I can quickly get overloaded with new possibilities for wishlists.

One of the decanters is Patty from Fragrant Fripperies (a decant store, before she combined with 3 other women to make up the court) and Perfume Posse, which I'm sure you've read.

Sniff on and fight the good smelling fight! The scented gauntlet has been thrown down and we will do our best to prevail. ;)

Hiya! Thanks for the link, you evil enabler! :P I actually hadn't seen it! It really is hard to keep up, especially since I haven't been reading the BPAL forum or MUA anywhere near as much as I used to, so hard to find the time for everything!

I have bought from Dragonfly00 (and/or was it tealeaf (La Creme) a couple of times and still have my POTL, Pink Sugar and Stila Creme Bouquet from them. Like I was saying to maewitch, I knew a few of the decanters had gotten together, but not to the extent they have. Oh, when I really explore that site, I'll be in even more trouble than I'm in now!

I've been wanting to order the sample packs from Lucky Scent for ages, but have been resisting. They have great customer service too. I remember the first thing I ordered from them was Bosari Violetta di Parma, hee, or was it Monyette Paris? :D

Yes, we will keep on sniffing on! There are just too many delicious things out there for us to stop!
