One thing about the people who light big dinners is that they never seem to consider the actual food. Blue light makes food look strange. In fact, blue is a colour that you rarely see in foodstuffs.

yeah Blue doesnt occur naturally in many foods, matter of fact I cant think of a single one that is blue. And why on earth would you light a Ball blue??! so dark someones bound to hurt themselves...

Sounds like a bloody mess. It's a terrible idea to serve ice to people. Wouldn't it make more sense to do an ice sculpture using that technique? Then at least people would have something to look at and enjoy instead of getting their pantaloons wet.

lol so very true.

At the same time, Sadly the culinary field is very much like the music industry or the movie scene... things go out of style. One such is Ice Carving. A huge hit in the 80s and into the 90s Ice carving has taken a back seat to things like Molecular Gastronomy Foams, Chemicals and "Smoke and Mirrors with food" (as I heard one chef say once).

But I do agree that a block of ice on a plate is neither appealing visualy nor oraly. Ill have a glass of ice water thank you, not a block of ice on my plate.
