Did this columnist commit an ethical lapse by omission?

Believe me, I know what I mean when I talk about disclosure in journalism (real-life, however, is another story). As former editor-in-chief of my college's publication, I was faced with several instances wherein I had to disclose certain affiliations of both myself and my staffers, especially during the student council election campaign.

I think some people would say you're overreacting. The column was just about someone saying she really liked Erap's home cooking. The only people who should be mad are the adobo and pochero connoisseurs thinking he just cannot deserve it, and that hardly means anything in politics (Well, assuming that the public can intelligently separate cooking and that.)

However, I do agree that disclosure is important. Just because it's a light story doesn't mean it can get off the hook, considering her closeness to the former president. Even if Erap isn't hot under the public eye recently, the people should know such relevant details. Besides, the column makes its sound like he was never convicted of plunder at all. More like a Cory image, with a mustache and a big belly.

PS: On a lighter note, you really love to blog don't you? You've been updating frequently recently.
