grandpa died today. we were all sitting around making jokes as he passed. seeing my dad feel the relief of this and knowing my grandpa wasn't in anymore pain was calming. i don't like that everyone will be talking about god or a god or praying a lot the next few days

When my grandpa passed it was the hardest thing for me. My grandma included me in a lot of the planning after his death because I was one of the few that couldn't see him before he passed away (he was in the hospital for 3 days, no one would watch Kyra for me). My grandma is really religious so it was hard to be supportive while also keeping in mind that her way of dealing with things was to rely of her faith. Not being religious is tough when it seems like everyone around you always tries to comfort you with praying and talking about god. Sometimes just knowing they aren't suffering any more is the best kind of comfort.

<333 thank you. my grandpa was in a lot of pain and rapidly declined and it was really hard while in the process, but knowing he isn't hurting so much is the best comfort. it's so uncomfortable about the religious stuff...like my parents aren't religious but i feel like everyone is during these times even if they're not...if that makes sense.
