Ever have a day go so completely fucking disastrously that you don't even have the energy to bitch about by the time it's over? Yeah, that was my day.
The very short version of how it started was this:

Do you carry comprehensive insurance on your car? We do; many years ago someone shot out the windows in my car (I had had a fender bender and it messed up the tire so I had to leave it parked overnight until I could arrange for a tow, and bastards shot the windows!) and my comprehensive insurance covered it.
