It's a region 2 DVD. The DVD players in the US are all region 1. Seriously, why aren't these things universal?

I can watch Region 1 DVDs on my PC with the VLC Player, even though my PC's DVD drive is Region 2. Maybe it also works the other way round? VLC should play them too.
Also, you can change the regional settings on most DVD players nowadays. There are surely some good tipps on the Net for that.
