I wish everyone I know would stop complaining about Band Camp starting Monday. Oh boo hoo, you have to wake up and work. Boo hoo you only care about seeing your friends you haven't seen all summer. Well then why don't you just go hang out with them during the summer? Band doesn't have to be your excuse to see them. Geez. I hope everyone who is

Five days of 5.5 hours. Five days of 7 hours. Five days of 2 hours.

I read things like this and I almost feel like our band is a bunch of slackers :/ I went to a marching band leadership camp at the beginning of July and everyone was like 'Oh, yeah, my band has a month of band camp and then 4 practices a week...' We have 3 days of 8-5 and a day of 10-4 and then 2 practices a week...

Is your band uber-competitive?

Mm... I don't think we're that competitive. I mean, I guess our band strives to be good. But it's my first year there, so I've only ever watched them play and all. I've heard camps which are 4-5 weeks and all day for each week. :/ I don't really think that a whole lot of practice makes any more band superior to another. How big is your band? Ours is usually around 220, don't know the sure count for this year.

Yeah...ours is a lot smaller, only around 140 (but it's the biggest in our area). One of my roommates at FSU was talking about her ridiculous band schedule and stuff and then we listened to a few of their previous shows, and they just weren't that good. I mean, they were good, but not as good as they should have been for that much practice.

I think the biggest factor is the size of the band, and maybe what the drill is. :/
