Just because they think you might be uncomfortable in some social situations doesn't mean they don't like you. Wish I could give advice, but *shrug* that's all I've got. If they're really good people they won't hold a little awkwardness against you.

I'm not sure what they mean, although, socially awkward in what sense? There are many types of "social", I for example just don't like football games, so I'm "socially awkward" in that sense, but my friends don't mind and I don't either, we can party after their silly game xD
