     Photographer Martin Parr told the audience at a recent event organised by the British Journal of Photography (BJP) that he believes it is possible that street photography could be banned in the UK within five years.

And why? Because taking pictures may be construed as terrorism.

Yeah, there are a number of groups protesting about it at the moment. Photography is one of my things and I would be well pissed off if I got banned from taking photos. As it is there are loads of places I can't take photos at the moment...in soft play areas for instance in case I accidentally take a photo of someone elses child!

You know, Philip Pullman's protest against the current state of politics in the UK is disturbing enough without this information to compound upon it many times over.

I mean, really! London! A world-class metropolitan city that perpetually crawls with tourists armed with cameras! And no matter where you go, it's getting harder and harder to crack down on anyone with technology. Most people can take videos, if poor-quality, on their phones.

Well, you know, taking a picture of someone else's child might make you a child molester. (o_o) That's the mentality going around, as I've seen. Argh.
