this upsets me. This means my ENTIRE family is not going to be able to ride it. We're all tall (I'm 6', and only my mother's shorter than me, at 5'10, creeping towards 5'11). She and I are both D-cups, though...well, she may be a DD, and we both have that delightful child-caused spread of the hips, and my dad and brother are both *very* solid. And. Well. Dad has a beer-gut. :P

I realize that they're required to stick to some standards, but... I've also been told that the Manta, Sea World's newest 'coaster has a similar problem.

Dear Amusement Park People: I realize that it's not healthy for all of us to be as heavy as we are, but let's face it. At least half of America is fat. A bunch of us are tall (we're one of the tallest nations in the world). Could *some* accommodations be made? Please?

Thanks for the heads up, bb. It was an intention to go to Hogwarts in August, when a friend is visiting from Norway. Now we'll have to rethink. :/

I'll go myself in July and give a better report then. But here's another article with more information: Are you too big to ride Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey?.

The important bits:
Looks like heights up to about 6'6" should be fine.
Apparently Universal is paying attention to how many guests can and can't ride. (Therefore it probably is a good idea for overweight guests to go and do a seat test.)

Well at least my immediate family would be okay, height wise, but only about three of my cousins would fit (we're a tall lot...).

I eagerly await your verdict, m'lady. I pretty much guarantee that, unless they change some of the seats, I won't fit. my diet's been making me *gain* weight. Neither my doctor nor i are happy with that. :P Oh well.

That's...interesting. I don't see why they'd make the seats for that ride any smaller than the seats for any other ride.

It sounds like they might actually be about the same size as Dueling Dragons, but DD had seats (or possibly extenders, I don't remember) to accommodate overweight guests and this ride doesn't.

Honestly, the more I read, the more I think people that are our size won't have a problem. Our asses might be a little snug or boobs a little squished, but I think you and I would be able to get the "3 clicks" as required.

Yeah, I haven't been to Universal in a while, but I never had trouble with the Dueling Dragons seats before. Aside from squashy boobs, which has honestly been a way of life for me since like, the fifth grade. So I'm kind of used to it. ;)

Hey man, I have small boobs and they were still squished!

Ahhh, joy. Land of uncomfortable squished thighs and wedged-in hips and smashed boobies. :P Oh, theme park rides.

So did they actually put up a sign that says "NO FAT CHICKS" or am I just making shit up to be annoying?

It says "NO FAT CHICKS." It also says your wand must be deactivated.

he noted some large-chested women also couldn't get the shoulder harness to work,

Well. That could be embarrassing.
