I wasn’t actually planning to do a Dollhouse review of any sort but then I had a bunch of flisters ask me if I was going to comment and I felt like my opinion matters. \o

What did you think about the opening act? I was sorely disappointed with the abruptness of the opening. It felt like I missed the actual opening, although I had kind of creepy promo with Summer and Eliza and then BAM, show start, so maybe I didn't? I don't know, it was bizarre.
After the credits, once the show started going (okay, once shirtless!Tahmoh came on), I was involved and things "felt" a lot more normal. I just cannot get over that opening act at all.
THE OPENING WAS WEIRD, YES. I settled in a bit because I think it was meant to be jarring, but I really question why we started with Caroline at all. I... it's not what I was expecting.
I was fairly pleased. I mean, we're obviously not going to have an abducted child and a personality with memories of abuse brought forward by seeing the abuser every week, but it was a strong start, I thought.
I knew I was caught up in it near the end, when Echo was leaving with the little girl, with the permission of the surviving kidnappers... and Sierra came in with guns blazing and shook up the whole thing, and me, too. The triumphant, emotional moment was suddenly an unnecessary bloodbath. That seems like the Joss touch to me. :-)
Echo's active was dead, though, so where do they get that from? Is it like Fringe, where they can resurrect things as long as the brain's intact? Because that would be kind of nifty.
That's true, but then how would she know she was dead? There's that great 'you can't kill a ghost' line. Unless she sold her memories/personality just before the suicide. Hmmmmmm.
I didn't get the impression that Echo knew her "imprint" or whatever was dead (or even existed at all). My interpretation was that the "you can't kill a ghost" line was something that the Icky Guy had said to the little girl who became Echo's imprint, and she was quoting it.
i won't say i loved it, but it kept me interested the whole time. i agree that Tahmoh is part of that reason (with shirt, and hello! without). i think the character that really drew me in was Boyd the handler...I'll be interested to see how he handles the "we have a mission" attitude to watching Echo go through whatever they have in store for her. i will definitely keep watching.

Hehe. Once you live here, we will have fun with our TV watching, as we seem to have a similar focus at least when Dollhouse is concerned. ;)

And he already got naked and sweaty!
Yeah, I just watched and that was the most exciting thing about the ep. Meh.
I really hope it gets better in the next few eps.
Or if not that there is more naked Tahmoh to enjoy.

Aw, I just want it to be Firefly, really. :(

And I hope it will pick up a bit. Cause I can't bear or justify watching it otherwise.

I do think it will pick up; I really think it's going to surprise us and be good.
