Turn up the signal, wipe out the noise

It's done. The song was edited from over 7.30 to 5.40 mins and may not be to everyone's taste. It is a little strange but not Bjork strange if you get my meaning. The vid focuses on Mal and River, their struggles throughout Serenity and it contains major spoilers. A smallish file is up at the moment. I am in the process of uploading a HQ version ( Read more... )

Hey there. I went into detail over on Reverie, but I just wanted to go on record here as well in telling you that this is a wonderful achievement. The pacing is just extraordinary, and you do such an amazing job of tying the song to the footage.

Great work.

Thanks so much Brad - Just read your comments and I really appreciate your thoughts. So glad you liked it. It's almost a relief when someone like yourself hears and feels the same emotions in a song.

I re-downloaded the new HQ version of your Spike vid today now I have 'free' time to catch up on viewing and feedback, so hopefully I'll be posting some of my thoughts.

Hi Andrea. I finally got arounf to feedback.

I really like the way that you focus on River and Mal whilst also giving everyone els their moment. I really like your use of Book as a sort of conscience for Mal.

I think you used the song really well it builds to the climax so that there is a nice mix of action and more reflective stuff. The fight sequence was really well done. I think your overlay with River walking through the corpses was really strong.

My favourite little momement was at about 4.30 when the gunshot is followed by Serenity getting hit and going into freefall. I'm a sucker for that sort of thing in vids.

I can't wait to see what you come up with next.

Thanks for taking the time to feedback Charmax. I truly do value your opinion, and with this one I wasn't sure how it would be received, the song being so long and a little more unusual.

You've picked out a couple of my favourite parts too. Those were my 'first ever' vid overlays and I added those in Adobe Prem afterwards - I think the River through corpses one works best.

As for the gunshot, I wasn't going to use that part of the fight until I saw Serenity being hit then immediately thought - "must go back, add & link the two". Glad you liked it, makes me look more clever than I am :)

Next I may go back to something totally silly, frivolous and short.
