Characters: Haruhi Fujioka, Hikaru Hitachiin, Kaoru Hitachiin
Setting: Rose Hallway, eventually the Crooked Bedroom.
Time: Day 006, late afternoon.
Summary: Haruhi wanders the house, and meets up with the twins.
Warnings: None, yet?

Haruhi had never missed her tiny apartment so much before.

Going to Ouran High School had gotten her used to all-too elaborate rooms and the rich-folk that occupied them, but that was routine. As long as she managed to find her classes and the Club, nothing else particularly mattered. This house, though -- this mansion -- was an intimidating change of pace, with its twisted hallways and infinite doors; she could never begin to memorize them all. That uncomfortable, heavy feeling settled into her stomach again -- homesickness? No, it was too early for that. She'd only been here for a few hours... yet, time seemed to drag at her heels in a slow-motion blur, frozen with the sun in the sky.

Escape. The pair who greeted her said that they were trapped, that they needed a plan to escape -- and while the whole situation seemed very impractical (one way in, no way out?), Haruhi vaguely wondered how long it would take, or, more appropriately, if her "absence" would affect her scholarship. She had studying to do at home, and laundry. Would Dad remember to pick up the groceries after work...?

The familiar, oddly comforting smell of roses hit her with sudden force, and Haruhi fell back to reality (was that where she was? Reality?) with a weak frown. Wherever she was now looked like a piece of Ouran, inserted directly into the foreign house -- the pink walls, the marble floors, the expensive vases and rose bouquets, everything. It was hard enough to understand how tripping in the school opened a gateway to this house. This made it worse.

Haruhi gravitated toward a powder-pink vase, the thick smell of flowers and déjà-vu choking her silently. For a moment, she really wished They were here -- Mori, the twins, even Tamaki would do -- if only because they were more accustomed to bigger houses, and maybe then she wouldn't feel so lost.

Fortunately, she regained her sanity fast and thought better of it.

They were such a handful, as if this place weren't bothersome enough. If she really was trapped in here, maybe she was better off alone. It would be like... a vacation. Like Karuizawa, except the Hosts wouldn't show up in their helicopters, or with their private police forces and extravagant rescue plans. Haruhi would adjust. She would endure. She always did.
