Characters: Red XIII, Alphonse, Lorenzo
Setting: Journey Bedroom
Time: Night 005
Summary: Al gets in MORE trouble for playing with his monsterkin.
Warnings: ...none?
Red XIII had woken to a distinct absence of Alphonse's body heat and weight. He'd also woken up to an absence of the boy's immediate scent, or the scent of hellhound. It had taken him less than even half a second to clamber up onto his feet, scoping out the length and breadth of the room, panicking. Where--?!
Had those untouchable ghosts--no, he would have heard, felt that kind of abduction, any kind of abduction, even if the ghosts had had no scent, he would have been woken up by it!
That left only one option.
He didn't dare assume anything--it was completely possible that Al had gone to the bathroom or wanted something from the kitchen... the boy had been extremely worried about being an burden or causing problems for other people, even after he'd been told that he was nothing of the sort, but--
But it was night.
And last time he'd gone off on his own...
The door had been shut tightly and, like all the bedroom doors, came with a circular knob. They'd gotten in because Al had opened the obstructive thing, but Red XIII had no choice now but to do it himself. Or at least try. (The door was impervious to damage, just like the walls and floors and ceiling.) The warrior reared up on his hind legs and planted his forefeet against the door, claws out, clamping his long jaws around the metal sphere as firmly as possible, ignoring the horrible taste. He couldn't really get a grip on it, though, his sharp teeth slipping off the smooth surface. His front paws scrabbled against the wooden door, trying to keep some sort of purchase as he salivated and chewed at it, and twice he almost got it open before overbalancing and losing his hold. Frustration and worry mounted. He was trapped in a bedroom while Alphonse was either in trouble or causing it!
...then he scented mutant bandersnatches.
A lot of them.
And Al.
