Characters: Machi Tobaye, any experimentees or rescuers who want to be there... otherwise... solo... uh.
Setting: Basement Tunnels
Time: Day 006
Summary: Ceiling!Machi is freed. Sort of.
Warnings: Bad language, in Borginian.

Machi dropped when the phantasms let go of him, collapsing to the cold floor in an uneven, abnormally twisted heap, monstrous, rotting limbs and human physiology indistinguishable briefly as he hit the ground. He was shot through with pain; panic, shock, and fear from when they'd grabbed him again, pain from everything else, his heart hammering, his head whirling, disoriented, lost inside itself as nausea gripped him at the sensation of his own limbs and he shifted unthinkingly, collapsing closer to the floor, his breathing ragged. The chill of the cement pressed numbingly, almost painfully, against his cheek. He only half noticed. His movements were wrapped in real pain--just staying still was painful as the sutures pulled from his position, and his head throbbed agonisingly under the bandages, nearly blacking him out, it was that bad, nausea twisting his insides from the bug, the smell of rot not making it any better, and a haze of indistinguishable pain washing out everything for a moment and making him shut his eyes, his joints pressing into the hard surface unnaturally, pulling his limbs so that he looked more like a broken body than anything alive or even human. He couldn't think straight, couldn't think at all, actually, not clearly, not like he was used to, trapped, lost, and unable to find his way out through the jumble of pain and disorientation.

Was this how Anna had felt?

Anna--

Lami--no. Trucy?

He was too confused right now, he didn't even want to die any more, he just--

"...fuck."

Then he was hearing sound again, differently this time, musical in nature... music? He lifted his head, vision and perspective swimming along with all his other senses, pale blue eyes unfocused and searching for a second. He heard vocals, familiar ones, rising slightly and then falling in a decrescendo, a song he'd heard before, instruments... violins... piano... but they filled the air wrong, like they were in a large, open space, not... long... empty... tunnels.

What? His breath shuddered and he tried to hone in on it... it was a fairly useless effort. The song... if he could... just remember the name...? No... no, that... no sense...

Slowly, he pulled himself up and began to crawl away.
