Characters: Machi Tobaye, Open Setting: Cricket Bedroom Time: Day 001, Early evening? Summary: Machi finds a slightly noisy room, but is too tired to care. Warnings: Bugs, Zetsu, violence, etc.
Zetsu had found himself back in the Rose Hallway after the little incident with Zero and the interesting shadow creatures; Mostly, this was because he hadn't seen monsters elsewhere besides the Dark Bedroom and this part of the house; he preferred being here for now, away from the nausea that the other hallway encouraged. Maybe later he'd check out downstairs.... But right now, he'd prefer to burn off a little steam against these strange creatures, and get a corpse cleanly maimed and helpless, but definitely alive, for Sasori to work with

When Machi woke up it was still nighttime. He was also still in the house. Neither of this shocked him terribly any more, as he had slept on couches a couple times in the past day--if day could be used for such a horrendous stretch of time. Time was so broken here he didn't think he was going to bother measuring it any more. He'd been jet-lagged before but this was ridiculous. Also, he also had to use the toilet. Badly

After some time of staying in the Daffodil Room, Namine had grown at least somewhat accustomed to it. Although she still shyed away from sleeping under the covers and the rabbit distressed her more than an inanimate object should, she had at least been able to get well enough used to it to get a full night's (day's?) sleep and wake fairly well rested.
But in all the time she'd been staying there, she'd never woken to something like this. The first thing that registered when she opened her eyes was that it was dark. What was she doing waking up in the middle of the --
The second thing that registered was that it was dark. Only this time, it was in a much more profound way - it was dark. Nighttime. She scrambled out of the bed, confused eyes focused on the window. But they did not stay there for long, because it was about that time that she realized what had awoken her; noises. Sounds, coming from outside, in the hallway - very distressing sounds. She stood stock still for a long moment

Zetsu had backed himself into a bit of a dead end, though that hardly mattered to him; the monsters weren't even close to fast or intelligent enough to land any hits on him so far. Perhaps Machi could see him fighting, if he looked--after all, the view from the Cricket Bedroom's door was almost a straight line down the hall to his location. He headed towards the sound of an opening door and piercing girl's scream, lashing out and striking hard; the creature groaned as he pierced what passed for a heart, staggering to the side and struggling to keep upright before its legs gave out. Zetsu threw it aside so it wouldn't block the door, raising an eyebrow as he saw Naminé framed in it. She would probably scream again, seeing him holding a pair of very bloody knives and ridding the mansion of a few threats like this

Machi ducked and flinched when the scream pierced the air, grabbing the gun and hiding behind the doorframe where he sat down to straighten out the weapon. His heart was racing but this was no worse than... than... than a lot of things he could think of, but he couldn't even make a comparison because he didn't if what he was seeing was real or if he was crazy--maybe he'd really gone crazy. The only thing he could think of now besides that was Jonouchi's cards and the crazy game from earlier, but there was no 'duel disk' and there were no cards and there certainly was no Jonouchi so this wasn't possibly part of the game--was it? It had to be real. Or something.
... that plant guy was down the hall killing these things and Machi wasn't so sure that he wouldn't try and come kill Machi, too. Not that it mattered, because there were these monsters first.
... and he didn't know if he could really use a gun.
It was a good thing Namine had her hands over her mouth, or else she would have screamed again as Zetsu appeared out of - to her - nowhere just in time to... er... dispatch the creature. At first she didn't even recognize him, only saw blood and a great hulking form - but after a few stunned instants, those giant leaves started to look pretty familiar.
"You shouldn't be trying to go out unarmed and unescorted, unless you're prepared to run."
Had it been in a book, Namine would have found it oddly entertaining to read, but it was another thing to live it. Although feeling that perhaps she should be scared of him as well as the monster, something in the back of her partially-functioning mind nudged her to think that she should probably thank him. She automatically removed her hands from her mouth - still curled in the same shape as they were when they covered it - and attempted a 'thank you', although it came out more like a dazed squeak.
