Unaware that the goddess of luck was taking a holiday, Jonouchi sat on his bed, Duel Monster cards in his hands once more. Rather than a nostalgia trip by shuffling through unused cards, the duelist was being somewhat less nostalgic and a bit more practical. His duel disk sat in his lap, glowing faintly with its trays slid together. It'd been a long time since it had seen any real use, and Jonouchi was aiming to make sure everything still functioned properly. He fanned out the deck in his hands, smiling as he came across one particular card. Picking it out of the deck, he dropped it onto the device and waited for it to do its stuff. The air in the room shimmered, and soon enough most of the free space was occupied by a fierce onyx dragon, ruby eyes glowing as it let out a mighty roar ( ... )

The phantasms were monstrously tall things swathed in white cloaks, somehow decidedly inhuman despite their overall shape--perhaps it was the ominous gas masks that covered any chance of seeing their faces--if they even had them--, or the chilling silence that surrounded them; not one of the four made a sound, either spoken or as they moved. The first two glided towards Jonouchi with surprising speed, hands outstretched to grab him, while the other two moved to surround the blond instead; intangible as they were, going down swinging would probably be far less effective than trying to run....

That was, if he even could, being flanked so badly by the creatures and the bed.

Cornered and outnumbered, the blond hadn't even thought to run. They'd gotten the drop on him, and if the bastards were as creepy as they looked, he wasn't about to get away unscathed. Instead, the blond brought up his fists and took a wide swing at the closest phantasm, straight at its jaw. The look on Jonouchi's face as his fist passed straight through his opponent could only be described as "priceless". Too surprised to think straight, the duelist struggled to catch his balance, staggering straight towards the phantasms. They didn't need much more of an opening, but they certainly had one. All the blond could do was try to regain his footing, while wondering just how he could've been so careless.

The phantasm who was swung at barely even paused as the fist passed straight through its jaw, gas mask and all. Rather, it and the others simply seized the opportunity they had just been given--and Jonouchi, too, four terribly strong pairs of hands and arms not only saving him from falling, but entangling the duelist completely, lifting him off his feet between them. One opened the door, and they were off, speeding towards the kitchen and down the stairs, into suffocating blackness ( ... )

Jonouchi struggled - it was just his nature to do so - but for intangible guys, the bastards had a surprisingly good grip on him. He didn't know where they were or where they were headed, but he knew it was a part of the house he'd never seen before. Catching a glimpse of Alphonse and Saya as he was carted past (along with two others he'd never seen before), he also knew they had his friends. Once that thought sunk in, the blond struggled twice as hard, to no avail. Breaking into his room and kidnapping him for some unknown purpose was one thing, but messing with his friends? That was one thing he just wouldn't stand for ( ... )
