Characters: Rayne, Jack, Zero Setting: Basement/Secret Tunnel of Lurve Time: Day 005 Summary: A-hunting we will go, a-hunting we will go... Warnings: Look at the character list/
In spite of Jack's premonitions the night before, nothing really too bad seemed to have happened overnight; the skeleton man had been relieved. The endless stairway's appearance had been curious--didn't things appear in the morning, normally?--and worth exploring, but nothing had come of it.... No matter how far he had walked, the thing just wouldn't end, and so he had given up on the effort for the night

Looking up at Jack in what could only be called an adoring manner, Zero loyally followed the skeleton down the staircase. Not having ventured into the kitchen the previous night - Even if he was a ghost dog, his sense of smell was as strong as ever, and the scent had been horrible, even by Halloweentown's standards. - he had no idea about the never ending staircase that it had been the night before, but the fact that something new was there did peak his curiosity, along with pushing his happy button. He was a dog, after all! And what good dog didn't love exploring new places?
Floating down the stairs after his master, the transparent canine perked up even more as he felt Rayne more than saw her. Like Jack, being dead meant a bigger intuition towards inhuman things like he was, though he had never felt anything like this lady before! Smiling at the woman as he curiously floated closer, Zero barked to echo Jack's greeting as he circled the woman. Hi!
Looking over as soon as she heard someone start down the stairs, Rayne could only blink at who she saw descending. While the thought that other people in this house might be characters from other dimensions, she had also thought that they could be characters from books, TV shows, movies, along with an idea that combined both. Who's to say that why people in her world watch on TV isn't happening in another dimension, after all? However, she never seriously considered these ideas, and now that it seems like one or all of them might be correct was nothing but baffling

Jack beamed at Zero's enthusiasm, and at Rayne, though his expression soon became a bit startled.... though honestly, mostly just curious. He really didn't remember seeing her before.... But hmm. "I see! And what might those be? Would you happen to be a new resident in Halloweentown, Miss....?" He paused to wait for Rayne's name, then chuckled. "His name is Zero." The skeleton reached out to give Zero an affectionate ear-scratching as he considered the bookshelf again. What might lay beyond it? Danger? Adventure? Excitement? It sounded like delightful fun!
....As long as he didn't start to worry about the warning that young ghost boy had given them, that was....
((OOC: Change Jack's query to something involving tools, as the bookcase does not, in fact, hold books.))
"A pleasure to meet you then, Rayne!" That was a bit of a surprise; he hadn't really met any spooks that lived in the normal world before..... Well, there was certainly a first time for everything, though! He grinned at Zero opening the bookshelf, pleased by the dog's ingenuity, and that they would indeed have a light source to go with them; those tunnels looked rather dark. He nodded spiritedly at her assurances, though, drawing closer to peer in himself. "Well, of course! I'm known throughout England and France, after all...."
Jack peered out into the tunnels, stepping in without hesitation; it looked quite lovely, to him. Deep, dark, spooky.... perfect! "Why, it sounds like a whole maze down here.... I wonder where it leads to? Which way should we try first?"
