Fortunately for Zetsu, less so for Makoto, if the plant man had any desire to overpower Makoto he could have done so in a heartbeat. The teenager had no more strength or agility than one could expect the average fifteen year old boy to have and he had no abilities or even weapons on his person (although Zetsu couldn't have known that). He was defenseless and he would be a pushover, really. He continued to look back to his cell phone out of habit, hoping for a call or text message to disrupt the current conversation...but unfortunately none came and he was left looking like a child that had been presented with a pop quiz they weren't prepared for.

"This place?" He repeated, uncomprehending at first, but not liking his tone one bit. Was he supposed to know something? Was he not supposed to know anything? If he disappointed with his answer, what then? "I was at the train station and I slipped and...I ended up here. It must be a dead zone, too, I'm not picking up any reception." He considered flipping his cell phone open and attempting ( ... )

Still looking at that thing. Either it was a weapon that he had to rely on, or it was a communications device associated with his headset, or.... something. It seemed awfully important. But still.... He had slipped in a training area (what had he been training for?) and ended up here. The story was simple, undetailed, and matched the others; if he really didn't know anything about this place, then his story checked out. But if you were the cause of this place, it would be all too simple to knock together some flimsy alibi.... He gave Makoto a long look, considering.

He reeks of fear like a bounty station stinks like death. His other half pointed out.

Yeah. But if the person who's behind this is personally or physically weak, they would have good reason to be afraid.

You honestly think they'd just show up like this? It was almost surreal, to hear his partner take a reasonable stance like this. Devil's advocate, maybe?

Malfunction of some sort, maybe? There were the phantasms.

Those weren't solid, and they were way bigger; pretty ( ... )

Makoto looked away as Zetsu's own staring got to him, not liking the way he was being looked at and blinking at the obvious miscommunication. Good name for it? What was he talking about? He was starting to get the feeling they weren't on the same page. He might have even though to point this out, but the follow-up explanation destroyed any possibility of that. It was all he could do to give the plant man a confused look as he tried to figure that one out. It...definitely sounded bad, but...just what the Hell ( ... )

Zetsu gave Makoto a look. What was the kid, a moron? Had he been hit on the head one too many times? He'd spoken in small words. Make yourself at home and stay alive. That was all there really was to do, here. Other than try to figure out what the hell was going on, anyway ( ... )

Well, nobody had ever claimed Makoto to be the brightest crayon in the box, especially not lately.

Another noise as he disconnected, slightly disappointed, but not terribly surprised. He had just finished figuring out that the place was a dead zone, after all. He placed his index finger on the back of the phone, seeming to be preparing to snap it shut as he listened to the man go on, but stopped as he caught sight of the image. So it was unlikely that Sekai was here, but day lasting a week? Night lasting two weeks? That made no sense whatsoever.

Then again, neither did a door that locked without locks, nor did...wait, what? "...monsters?"
