A long pause as Courtney considered the woman - she didn't look especially like a ghost, or a monster, or anything that wanted to harm her, but she was wary. How could she not be? They were in the middle of a zombie apocalypse or whatever was happening down below, and they were doing their best not to attract attention. After a pause, she replied. "...Courtney Crumrin. This is Fiona Belli. Guessing you're like us, in this place, right? Not some sorta creepy house monster wanting to eat us?"

At least she had a normal-sounding name. And she didn't look like she was from Japan, which was a plus. Maybe she was meeting with, gasp, another woman from her country! Except, probably not her world. But as long as they were similar enough... "Any idea how you got here?" she finally asked, frowning. "Usually people come from the entrance room when they arrive here."

"Nice to meet you both, I think...." Anna smiled dryly, pushing her hair out of her face. "That's right." Anna nodded in agreement, satisfied now that she was, in fact, completely unharmed..... somehow. "I woke up in the entrance room last night.... or... a few days ago. Or however you measure time here." Anna shook her head, and reached down to tighten the leather strap serving as her belt again, wondering why it kept loosening. "But I was trying to fight away some of those zombies, and it felt.... felt like I was being ripped open, like something was tearing my head off. And my head...."

For a moment, Anna looked as though she didn't know whether to be angry, sick, or just a little traumatized; she shook her head, expression stony as she composed herself again. "None of that was actually happening to me, but my head, I could feel that, it really did burst." She remembered seeing, for just an instant, the spray of blood before her eyes had exploded as well, the blinding agony before darkness engulfed her.... She shivered. "I passed ( ... )

"Last night's simpler to get," Courtney replied with a shrug. So, not long. At least, not as long as Courtney. She had to wonder who had been here the longest... did it make any difference in the end? And so she sat down to listen to the woman's story, wincing a bit as Anna described her feelings of 'dying' - in great detail. "That's... uh," she said after a while, looking uncomfortable. And then she remembered something ( ... )

Anna nodded; she supposed it was easier to understand. After all, if time moved so slowly here that you weren't sure how long a period of daylight lasted, using time as it was measured here, rather than normally, would be more understandable..... She almost laughed at the thought. When in Rome, do as the Romans do, because there never once had been a language called Roman. Why people thought that, she never knew; plenty of people knew at least one or two words of Latin, even if they didn't realize it. Regardless ( ... )

Courtney wasn't unused to graphic detail - she had once, against her judgement, asked Butterbug, her goblin acquaintance - and sometimes accomplice - to tell her stories about Tommy Rawhead, which had given her nightmares at the time. All the same, Anna's assumption was correct - a simple death excuse would probably have been enough. "No problem," she replied with a shrug, deciding to put it off as no big deal. It wasn't, really... though she was curious about this whole thing about coming back to life. Did this happen to everyone? Was this what happened to Edward ( ... )
