Well he hadn't meant to get their attention like that. He pressed himself further against the fridge, as if pushing hard enough might somehow let him melt into it, and flattened his ears to his skull as Mello approached. He was definitely threatening. The tone of voice, the towering height, and the heavy footsteps were really not helping matters; if he made a grab for the rabbit, he was likely to get bitten. But that may not be immediately obvious; rabbits were not the most expressive creatures on earth.

Alice fixed a steely glare on the boy - Mello, he said, though of course she was unlikely to call him that particularly often - especially with his annoyed tone and his mocking her. Idiot.

"Shut up, blondie," she replied, voice fierce, as she pulled her arm back and quickly whipped her half eaten apple in the general vicinity of his annoying head. Of course, she didn't care if it scared the rabbit or something, either (all the better if it did bite him, anyway). For the moment, too, she left it at that. She could demand more answers from him once he shut up and listened.

((ooc: crappy tag is so, so crappy.))

Alice's aim had apparently been pretty good, as she did manage to hit Mello on the back of the head with her apple. He let out a startled yelp and spun around to face her again, his eyes narrowed in considerable irritation. For a moment, he considered picking up the apple and throwing it back at her, however, he quickly shot that idea down. However dislikable Alice was, he wasn't about to regress to the level of some bratty little kid by engaging in the same behaviour she was. That wouldn't accomplish anything.

"You're telling me to shut up?" He questioned, giving the girl a very skeptical look. "Didn't I just answer your question?" He rubbed the area on his head where the apple had hit; it was still a bit sore. "You know, no matter how 'great' you claim to be, you're never going to get anyone else to agree with you if you keep that sort of attitude up."

Of course it wasn't as if he had exactly been a pleasant child himself, either. Mello supposed he had been just as much-- if not more-- of a brat as Alice seemed to be when ( ... )

Privately, Alice was pleased that her aim had proved true; or not so privately, as she grinned with triumph as the fruit connected with Mello's head. Then, she pointed in the most authoritative way she could manage. "I asked for your name, idiot, not some stupid comments." Then she folded her arms across her chest huffing. Why should she care if he agreed with her or not? He was just some idiot. She knew she was great, no matter what he - or anyone - said. She had no reason to care. Really.

"Whatever," she finally said, looking away, "It doesn't matter."

" 'zactly. You only asked for my name, and I gave you not only that, but some stupid comments to go along with it as well." He gave Alice a wide-- and very conspicuously fake-- grin. "All for the price of just a name... with no extra charge! You should be showing me a little more gratitude rather than throwing shit at my head."

Mello paused and glanced down at the apple on the floor, a slight smirk upon his lips. "Thanks for the apple, though." He reached down to pick the already half-eaten fruit up, and then quite savagely took a bite out of it himself. He saw no reason not to-- he didn't particularly care that the girl had already bitten off it-- considering that it been literally thrown at him. Besides, he was already quite ravenously fucking hungry, and it wasn't like the one chocolate bar he'd gotten out of the refrigerator was going to be enough to fill him up.
