Machi led Yukimi quickly across the Grand Room, pausing only briefly to glance at (or under) the piano--it was hard to tell which. His arms were full of the provisions he had scavenged, and he could feel his heart hammering against them, the sharp end of his pendant cutting into his chest. He didn't dare stop and rearrange it, though, and quickened his pace, until he nearly ran up the stairs, eyes focused straight ahead of him in the dark. The pianist was actually peering over the tops of his sunglasses, but his breath was so short and his nerves so frail that he couldn't see much beyond his immediate path. It was a form of tunnelvision, brought on by fear.
Then he saw something new and jerked back, hunching over unconsciously in fear and throwing out his elbow to stop Yukimi before he missed them.
Those... those hadn't been there before.
Those hadn't been there before.
They were new.
What he saw were figures thin, dark, fast, and horrible and Machi couldn't focus on them correctly, seeing only sickly shapes moving rapidly around one of the headless monsters from before. He backed up quickly, speaking breathlessly in Borginian--his throat had clenched shut and he could barely speak, mind reeling.
They were climbing on the walls.
"O’®Ω’ üµÁj®Ωuçí¬ ÖçúøçúÕ! Do not moving!"
He'd never seen anything like this--not in his life, not in the night before, not even in nightmares he'd had since going to jail. His fingers fumbled for the gun desperately, trying to catch the safety before they noticed him. He didn't want to die.
