Of all the things Mio had thought she might find in the kitchen, a dog was not one of them, or at least not one that was still alive and well. She blinked as she caught sight of the animal, not covered in rot and grime, nor hunting the residents of this house, just a normal dog staring at the cabinets longingly.

"...A dog?" She asked thoughtlessly, not quite sure she could believe what she was seeing, as she cautiously began to approach it.

A mailman! Dug's tail began to wag excitedly as she entered the room, and the forlorn puppy bounded to his feet, stomach put on the back burner by the excitement of meeting someone new. Bounding over to her with the energy and excitement only a puppy could manage, he began to sniff her excitedly before jumping up and putting his front paws on her in a sort of puppy hug, tongue hanging out to the side.

Mio made no effort to move as the dog began to run towards her, tail wagging and looking as friendly as a dog could look. She shifted a bit as the dog began to sniff her, but made no real effort to move, instead just following him with her eyes. It was adorable, in the sort of way that only a puppy could be, enough so to draw a smile from her and even a small laugh as she stumbled back from having the dog rather suddenly leaning on her.

"I'm happy to see you too," she said. she was anything but happy to see the poor animal trapped in this place, but it seemed unfair to take it out on him. He seemed friendly enough, at least, and so she reached out one hand to gently pat him on the head.

"Oh, I am ever so happy to see you!" He licked her face happily, tail moving a mile a minute behind him.

"My name is Dug, and I love you!"

You do not need to wait on Syrup for tagging order, obviously. omnomnomsweets March 31 2010, 04:19:03 UTC
Syrup was following the girl at some distance, sticking to the walls and underneath furniture being about as stealthy as a rabbit could be when it stopped and thumped the ground in alarm every few feet. Syrup was distressed. It smelled like the other girl, but it wasn't the other girl. Also, he was hungry, but there was some kind of beast in the kitchen. He huddled against the doorframe, occasionally making a cautious peek inside before jerking back in alarm and hopping in circles for a few minutes, or chewing on the doorframe until he forgot what he'd been so afraid of and peeked in again.
