The girl on the inside had been distracted at the coming of dawn, but this way quickly snapped away from her as the realisation - mainly in the form of the voice within her mind she had come to grow so used to - that it was dawn came to her. Shilo felt a wash of relief at this knowledge, as even with Mewtwo's protection throughout the night, it had been nerve wrecking and frightful to say the least. Which was normal for her - she was afraid for herself, largely, but also for Mewtwo. It might have been a little selfish, but at least he could handle himself.

"Great," Shilo called back through the door, her tiredness tugging at her tone of voice, but it still took her a minute to convince herself to step onto the floor of the room. In fact, she felt the need to take a quick look under the bed, as childish as it almost was (almost because she knew there had been something there) before she felt convinced enough to put her boot down on the floor in front of her bed ( ... )

Mewtwo glanced at her and was caught slightly off guard by the smile, a strange impression crossing his mind before he could catch it and stop it before it could vanish. She was smiling at him. For some reason this struck him as simultaneously arbitrary and absurd, but he ignored it, disregarding it in favour of flying ahead a bit, simply assuming that Shilo would follow him.

He'd grown accustomed to the regularity of Shilo's diet, even if it was still alien to him--he often accompanied her to the kitchen but rarely ate anything, having little to no need to do so much of the time. While other organic beings constantly took in resources and burned them in inefficient quantities, Mewtwo produced his own energy, burning and recycling his own power, functioning as a sort of internal battery. It also guaranteed that he would rarely if ever run out of any real amount of power, since he was constantly generating more, using very little of it in proportion to his actual potential.

On the bright side, Mewtwo did seem used to this sort of thing. It kind of sucked that he would never really join her for breakfast, but the company was pretty good (it was mostly just awkward eating in front of him so often), and habits had formed well enough. He was compliant and didn't mind tagging along, anyway. And at least he let her wander around.

No, the much less unconventional thing came just after that, in the form of a surprising discovery; the discovery that her way to the kitchen with Mewtwo was a little less than perfect, instead obstructed by... snow and cold. Of course, she'd realised a little late and therefore had opened the greenhouse door only to shout loudly in surprise and jump backwards as a cold breeze hit her, flailing her arms a little before falling on her rear as the snow poured out into the space right before her. None of that had been at all what she expected, and she found herself far too surprised to be embarrassed by her fall.

Mewtwo spotted the drifts piling along the halls, small patches of accumulated snow and footprints melting on the tile, but didn't realise the extent of it--not until Shilo pulled the door open, unleasing a sudden blast of frigid wind and snow startling enough to knock her frail human body to the floor. He pulled up violently, bringing up one arm and throwing a bright blue Barrier up to block the doorway, his eyes narrowed as the howling wind battered against it--mere weather, which was nearly a surprise, no more powerful or unnatural than any other storm of earthly origin. He glanced down at Shilo, his tail lashing as he removed his gaze from the deep planes and towers of white inside.

[... are you hurt?] It was curt and cursory, without much actual concern for her wellbeing--if she was injured, it was simply an inconvenience, and he would accomodate accordingly.

Equally surprising to Shilo was the sudden barrier that she found in front of her, just a good meter away, blocking the door quite suddenly and out of nowhere. Not that she blamed Mewtwo for it, considering how she'd react to the weather. She realised now that the warning signs had been there, she'd just missed them, and so it was pretty fair that she'd gotten that weather like that. However, it really was mostly that she was startled, so it wasn't a big deal, and she answered Mewtwo honestly and accurately, as she heaved herself to her feet, tightening her jacket around her in an effort to fight off the unexpected cold. She'd never had to deal with temperatures like this back home.

"I'm okay," she explained, though the addition was muttered, "Just a little sore, that's all."
