"Great," Shilo called back through the door, her tiredness tugging at her tone of voice, but it still took her a minute to convince herself to step onto the floor of the room. In fact, she felt the need to take a quick look under the bed, as childish as it almost was (almost because she knew there had been something there) before she felt convinced enough to put her boot down on the floor in front of her bed ( ... )

He'd grown accustomed to the regularity of Shilo's diet, even if it was still alien to him--he often accompanied her to the kitchen but rarely ate anything, having little to no need to do so much of the time. While other organic beings constantly took in resources and burned them in inefficient quantities, Mewtwo produced his own energy, burning and recycling his own power, functioning as a sort of internal battery. It also guaranteed that he would rarely if ever run out of any real amount of power, since he was constantly generating more, using very little of it in proportion to his actual potential.

No, the much less unconventional thing came just after that, in the form of a surprising discovery; the discovery that her way to the kitchen with Mewtwo was a little less than perfect, instead obstructed by... snow and cold. Of course, she'd realised a little late and therefore had opened the greenhouse door only to shout loudly in surprise and jump backwards as a cold breeze hit her, flailing her arms a little before falling on her rear as the snow poured out into the space right before her. None of that had been at all what she expected, and she found herself far too surprised to be embarrassed by her fall.

[... are you hurt?] It was curt and cursory, without much actual concern for her wellbeing--if she was injured, it was simply an inconvenience, and he would accomodate accordingly.

"I'm okay," she explained, though the addition was muttered, "Just a little sore, that's all."
