She'd been searching for a while now, keeping to herself in the shadow and corners of eyes. And she was getting bored. The monsters were new, sure-- but being from where she was, the whole concept of danger was pretty much lost on Rouge.

The bat's ears twitched at the jingling nois, though she herself was in another nearby room. The sound usually wouldn't give her much cause to care, but it sounded akin to a necklace and she had a feeling it could be that cat girl-- and if the lady bat couldn't have an immediate way out, why not have some fun in the meantime?

Rouge peered out into the entryway from her hiding place, keeping an eye out for anything purple and grumpy. Blaze was nowhere to be found-- the whole hall was empty aside from that scrawny kid getting up off the floor.

"Oh, hey, a new guy." Not the most polite greeting, but that was just the way she was. Following that, she calmly stepped out into the hall-- May as well get a closer look at this kid, hm? she thought to herself. Wonder if he's got anything good on him...

The last thing Sora had expected was a voice coming from...well he wasn't sure where it had come from. He was still a bit disoriented. Which made him stop to wonder just why he'd not expected a voice. He was in a house of some sort, wasn't he? Voices were to be expected...maybe.

A grumbly sort of noise left Sora's lips and he set about checking himself over for anything unusual that this new world might have brought on. No tail, fins, or anything else. So far so good. Finally, he decided to look up and seek out the keeper of the voice. When he found her, he couldn't help but stare. His head canted a bit to one side and his eyebrow arched high above his eye. He'd seen a lot of things on his adventures, but this? Well...What could he say, really?

'New guy..?' he thought to himself. This obviously wasn't an uncommon thing...

"Uh, yeah. I guess that'd be me?" he flashed a sheepish grin, lifting a hand to rub the back of his head. "Though, I don't exactly know what I'm new to." Oh yeah, this was going to take getting used to.

The bat grinned back, fully expecting a look like that. She was used to it, really-- Humans really had a habit of staring, she found, and it wasn't like she minded much. Heck, she was certainly dressed for attention, without a doubt. She welcomed it with open arms. She arched an eyebrow(ridge?) back teasingly, if only for a moment. The kid was in danger, after all.

"Well, you caught us at a bad time, honey, but welcome to the madhouse," Rouge explained with as calm a demeanor as she could muster. "I'd give you the tour, but..."

The thief suddenly whirled around to face the way to the Grand Room, wings flared. Shadowy tendrils were already reaching out towards her and their new prey, but quick as a whip Rouge jumped into the air and dispersed the coming darkness with a steel-toed kick.

If the kid knew what was good for him, he'd figure out that this place obviously wasn't safe; there were more shadows coming, even as the bat wound up for another blow...

"Madhouse?" Sora questioned, head tilting a bit to one side. "Why would you call it a-"

He didn't have to finish, there was no reason. The answer to the question he was going to ask was right in front of him, and something in the boy's gut told him this was only a small taste of whatever made this place 'madhouse' definitionable.

Without a thought over the matter, Sora's hand extended and with a pop of displaced air, his Keyblade appeared. His posture shifted and his eyes narrowed a bit. "Maybe we should find some place else to chat, eh? Doesn't look like we'll keep real good company here."

Rouge couldn't help staring at the Keyblade as it came into being. While 'weapon' was not the first thing that came to mind when she saw it, it was quite eyecatching; she'd have to ask about it later, maybe. More importantly, the kid wasn't running and screaming; always a plus in these situations.

"My thoughts exactly, kiddo! How fast can you run?"

The bat was poised for action, be it fighting or fleeing. She knew by now that the shadows only moved so fast, and if he wasn't a total slowpoke they could be somewhere safer in a matter of minutes. The more the merrier, right? And if he could fight... well, that was just an added bonus. ♥
