For a while now, he had been surveying the view through the vast window. Despite extremely comfortable seating, he sat rigid, frown hidden behind steepled fingers, turning over the information he'd procured earlier. Once more his gaze roved from the sky, to the slope, to what appeared to be a devastating drop beyond. His attempts at creating his own exit had proved ineffective, to his irritation.

A twinge of hunger shook him from his contemplation, and he levered himself out of the chair, striding towards the door. Perhaps there was a storeroom nearby, where he might be able to find something edible. This place was certainly vast enough.

" -- can actually cook?"

At the sound of a voice, he turned to see a heavily dressed figure, moving away from him. Someone else? Or something else? It appeared humanoid, but Kimbley drew his hands casually from his pockets anyways, despite his pleasant demeanor as he called out.

"Pardon me, do you know where I might find a pantry?"

His hand came up automatically when Allison hunched, cradling the back of her head, knowing by now that it wasn't exactly that she was seeing something scary...well, in a way she was, but that to Allison the entire world was a scary scary place and she didn't know how to handle it. He turned as she spoke, breaking her eye contact with whatever had startled and frightened her. "Shhh."

"We're heading there now." He responded, building easily on what Allison had said, a polite smile twisting his lips. "You must have just arrived." And either come from a fight or gotten into a fight since he got here.

Well at least that proved the guy knew how to take a punch. That was a skill that would get him far here. "I'm Ace, this is Allison. If you'd like to follow, I can show you where everything is." Polite, ever so polite, friendly but watchful.

His hand ran down Allison's back, soothing and comforting whatever alarm she may have suffered with the sudden appearance of a stranger.

The soft reply, unexpected, drew a slight twitch from his fingers, but his smile never wavered as he walked closer, slowly. The figure was revealed now as not one, but two, a man, albeit wrapped in a mass of clothing, and a young girl.

"Indeed I have." Kimbley touched two fingers to the brim of his hat, acknowledging the greeting. "A pleasure to meet you both. My name is Kimbley."

Sizing them both up quickly, his attention skimmed from the protective hand on the girl's back, her shy behavior, the man's polite smile. Quite a range of inhabitants this place held, he thought idly, thinking back to angry crimson glares and sharp gold claws.

"I would be delighted to accompany you," he replied, smile calm and equally polite. "Unfortunately I have yet to learn the layout of this place. Have you been here long?"

Allison clung to Ace's coat, shivering, and listened. Both of them were talking quietly, and they both sounded nice and friendly, and nobody was angry or fighting....

The relative calm and soothing reassurance encouraged Allison to peek cautiously over Ace's shoulder again, eyeing Kimbley. She didn't wave, or respond to the greeting--either she was too nervous to, or (far more likely, judging by the nearly uncomprehending stare) didn't know how to do so to begin with. She simply dropped her eyes at Kimbley's question, averting her gaze as she nodded.

Yes. She had been here for a very long time.
