Kei had lost track of the time here and in the Manor of Sleep. He'd done the very best he could have in the time where he was awake, often ignoring the pain that had started to spread from his right arm to the rest of his body. Never should he have gone in there, but after watching Mio and Mayu disappear in Minakami Kei couldn't bear the idea of losing Mio to the unknown again
( ... )
They all had their regrets, didn't they? Their "if only"s in regards to decisions made in the past. Mayu has so many of them.
She hears her name being called, but it's by the wrong person. Was that promise still in tact?
It wasn't Mio, but it was still someone important. The young girl tilts her head up slightly, staring at a point in the room beyond Kei's shoulder rather than directly at him.
"K..." She doesn't put much effort into finishing. The rest of her energy goes into lifting her arm, reaching out to try and touch Kei's form as it comes into focus.
So many. Their family was probably fated to despair from the start, from how Misao had disappeared that fateful day to the twins. Even now, Kei knew that it was dangerous for them all.
When he saw how weak Mayu was - had she even seen him? - he couldn't help the sense of guilt. A week, an entire week where no one knew where the twins were. Even now, he couldn't really tell Shizu what had happened. When Kei noticed her reach out he raises his own hand to meet her halfway.
She can see Kei better after a moment or two, his presence so startling, so sudden and in her face. She wasn't dreaming, right? She wasn't dead. But nothing is making any sense.
"...Kei?" She can feel his hand, and once she has a hold of it, she isn't letting go. "Kei." Her voice is faint and dry. For a long while, Mayu can only hold his hand and stare up at him, searching for something to say or do.

He's met with a numb feeling.
