Summary: Leo, once again, finds himself inside the house.

Nina had been *looking* for Mr. Chaos and Big Brother. They had to be somewhere Nina just knew they had to. Mr. Break and Mr. Red were all very nice, but she really wanted to find her Big Brother, or Mr. Chaos at least...she missed them. Maybe they had found daddy and were playing hide and seek..... It was bright out again, so now the puppies had gone to sleep again.

That made Nina sad, Nina liked the puppies, but Mr. Break said the puppies were dangerous, and so had the boy who looked like Big Brother, Nina thought that maybe people weren't looking at the puppies hard enough. They were really nice puppies, and someone had hurt them. Nina didn't like that one bit.

She was tapping her feet on the floor, making lots of noise so she wouldn't sneak up on anyone. Maybe she could find chalk and make a hopscotch later...that might be fun....maybe if she found Big Brother and Mr. Chaos they would play hopscotch with her. Nina beamed, hopping three steps. She was sure they could draw nice straight lines like Daddy did.

Leo had been standing at the entrance, pondering his next move (should he see if the people he'd known here before were still here? Should he walk the manor in search of people who needed help?) when he saw the little girl, and his eyes narrowed dangerously. What was a child doing here, in this accursed place? He moved over to where she was, careful not to startle her, and knelt down beside her.

"Excuse me, little one," he rumbled politely, his features softened with benevolent concern, "are you lost?"

Nina looked up at the voice, eyes almost disappearing under the force of her smile. "I'm not lost, but my Big Brother is, I'm trying to find him! Have you seen him, Mister? Are you lost, is that why you asked?" Nina stared at the man, even if daddy said it wasn't polite. But he had a horn on his head and..."Mister, do you know you have puppy ears?"

This, Nina thought, was a very exciting thing. If he had puppy ears, did that mean he was a puppy man? Now she had proof that puppies were just as smart as people, after Mr. Red and now this nice man.

Leo smiled at the child's innocence, despite the gravity of the situation. "I'm not lost," he replied kindly, his ears twitching at the question. He supposed he ought to get used to this again; at least she wasn't pulling on them like Sekai had. "I am aware of my ears," he told the child. "I have had them ever since I was young." He was a beastman, so of course he'd been born this way, although his horn had grown in sometime after his birth.

Humans from other worlds, Leo reflected, could be very strange sometimes.

At some different point--maybe a little after Leo meeting Nina?

This place was scary.

Eva had stuck as closely to Watanuki as she could since she had met him--had helped him pass out bentos to people, and even had slept on the floor in the room he was staying in, along with Nina and Break. She had seen.... things in the darkness. Gleaming eyes and fluttering fairies with laughter like the tinkling of little silver bells, and strange white not-people with bandages wrapped around them. She had seen a girl with a bloody dress clutching a rabbit, and people with their faces rearranged stranding thronged and motionless in the attic. She had seen so many things, but stayed away from them all

Watanuki had been heading back to, of all places, the kitchen. It would surprise no one who knew him that his intent was to make breakfast, and his small shadow was following him, as always. Day, as always brought a release in the pressure, the foul taint had softened and drifted away again. Watanuki much preferred it that way. The ghosts vanished back to wherever they hid during the day...or wherever they were trapped, as Watanuki was beginning to believe

Leo's sharp ears caught the squeak easily, and he turned to regard the source just as he heard the greeting, and he grinned at the newcomers, sharp fangs glinting in the weak, but growing, light. "Greetings, strangers," he hailed, his nose easily catching two distinct scents. He strode up to them, looking down and giving a polite nod. "I have returned, in fact." Strange, since he hadn't been expecting to, nor had he remembered until a little after said return.

He looked at the young girl huddling near the tall boy and softened his voice. "Please do not be afraid. I won't hurt you."

Eva relaxed a little as Watanuki reassured her, hand warm on top of her head; she tried to smile up at them, though it faltered a little as she realized that the not-monster had fangs. That was a little discomforting. But.... but he could talk, right? He had said hi, and that he had been here before, and that he wasn't going to hurt her.

But ghosts and demons could talk, too. Just because you could talk didn't mean you couldn't be bad and do terrible things. Just because you could talk didn't mean you were a real, living person.

But Watanuki thought he probably wasn't a monster, and he'd said he wouldn't hurt her....

Eva managed another small smile and slid out from behind Watanuki, though she kept close to his side. He was so big.... He looked like he could snap both of them in half if he wanted to. Her voice was soft and hesitant, but still audible. "How.... h-how did you leave?" And just as importantly, perhaps, why would he want to come back to a place where there were monsters?
