So when he turned a corner and heard a giggle that was hauntingly familiar, he almost wasn't surprised.
Still, he froze for a moment, eyes widening. Then slowly, against his better judgment, he turned toward the sound of that voice and took several small, slow steps toward it. This was a nightmare. A... very lucid nightmare, but a nightmare. There wouldn't be any harm in just satisfying his curiosity...

She took two running steps and dropped to her butt to slide over the wet floor, shrieking with glee.
This was better than going to the beach..the wet floors made her slide really far and it wasn't gritty and sandy!
She wanted a toy that did just this at home!
She heard foot steps on the floor behind her, spinning around in place with a a giggle that echoed back of the walls. She's tossed her shoes off at some point and her wet socks gave her almost zero traction between the water and the stone.
Her eyes widened with delight, recognizing the blond instantly. "BIG BROTHER!"

He rounded a bend in the hall, and found himself back in the entryway. Wasn't the greenhouse in this direction? Working with plants cheered up Russel when he was that age. Maybe that would work.
But there were more children here. He paused a moment and considered them. The little girl was smiling. Maybe she could help. "Hello," he said simply
