Axl had been hiding out in the entrance hall for a while. It was the part of the house he'd seen the most, and he was honestly nervous to travel too much further into it on his own, given the things he'd seen in only the short time he'd been there.

He was sitting in the corner, arms folded across his chest, and had nearly dropped off in a nap when the new arrival startled him. Axl glanced up at the newcomer, possibly less startled than he should've been.

"... uh. Yo."

He rose to his full height and glanced over his shoulder at the oak door behind him. It didn't dawn on him to try opening it yet, not when he had a fancy ability like portals on his side. He just wanted to familiarize himself with his surroundings. Get a feel for the place he had been dragged to at random. Maybe there was something worth his time here.

Axel moved forward, fingers twitching at his side, ready to call forth his weapons if the need arose. He wouldn't put up too much of a fight with the strain on his ribs but it was the comfort they provided. He crossed the small expanse into the next room, studied the floors and the ceilings and the sparse amount of furniture.

His head jerked in the direction of the voice, brows drawing in as he stared him down. It was about time to ask the only thing on his mind, really on anyone's mind upon arrival.

"What is this place?"

"A haunted house." The boy who'd greeted him the first time he'd arrived there had told Axl the very same thing, so he supposed it was the most simple explanation.

A ... haunted house. Really? Kids and their ideas. The dull stare remained on his face as he looked away, wondering what this was all about. He supposed he could humor him. How else was he supposed to gleam information?

"Haunted, huh? Not being chased by the monster under your bed, I hope." Couldn't help being demeaning. It came naturally to him.
