Chie had wandered, lost, through the house for some time--she was beginning to wonder if there was more than one, especially when she found that second kitchen (and not a moment too soon; she was starving). She recalled stopping to sleep a few times, and knew days had to have passed, but she had never seen nightfall. This must have been what Yosuke meant.

When nightfall came, and she still hadn't found Yosuke or the others, she started to grow nervous. But--but that was silly, she could take care of herself, right?

She heard yelling, and it made her start, freezing in place and preparing to attack. But--Yosuke had said there were others here, right? It could have been one of them.

"H-hello?" she called, uncertain. "Is someone there? Are you okay?"

That was kind of a stupid question; they didn't sound okay.

Edit: Ahahaha wow I left the edit notes in here. Sorry! Also he's fronting. :| machitobaye May 10 2009, 18:55:21 UTC
Machi turned around quickly at the sound of a voice; his immediately paranoid first thought was that someone had seen or heard him, then just that she'd seen him--seen him crying, falling, maybe seen him in the pantry--seen him exposed and unguarded. Heard was disregarded immediately as a lost cause. She'd already obviously heard him. He still gripped his elbow tightly with his right hand as he turned, his face and posture defencive.

"Who is?" It was less a question than a demand, but he picked out the speaker about as quickly as he got the words out.

...some girl. He didn't know her, and she had short brown hair and glasses. What did she want? His expression turned angry and his voice menacing--or as menacing as a boy three inches shy of five feet and who hadn't quite hit puberty could sound. "Get out."

When she spotted the boy--he looked younger than her, and exhausted--she relaxed a little before noticing that he didn't look relaxed at all. He sounded angry, but he was the first person she'd seen in a while, and surely it was a bad idea to be wandering around alone at night?

"Why?" she asked. "What's wrong?"

She wasn't sure what he was going to do, but she didn't think she'd have to fight him.

He may have seemed aggressive, but in all honesty, for the most part, he was fronting. Machi was almost more upset that she hadn't gone away than he was about the actual questions. He frowned slightly--heavily for him, but not very much by average standards--his brow furrowing as he tried again to scare her away, raising his voice in an attempt to seem angry and intimidating. "Nothing! I am hit myself--is not you problem." He was not, in fact, angry--and never actually raised his voice when he was--but he was trying to hide his tears under a facade of anger and the result was a defencive posture and an increase in volume, both designed to make her go away. His dense accent, however, made the effect perhaps more comical than it otherwise would have been.

His real emotions were closer to annoyance and a desire for privacy--and another, deeper desire just to make her do what he wanted.

She got the impression that he was trying to frighten her, but honestly, she had seen far scarier things than a young boy with an accent and a weird curl in his hair. Her hands fell to her hips and she affixed him with an "I'm not buying it" look.

"Look, whatever you're trying to pull here, this place isn't safe at night," she said, though she wasn't quite sure what sort of things night brought. "You can't be wandering around making all that noise, you'll get hurt!"

Machi's expression went from cross to dumbfounded and he stared at her for several seconds before suddenly, he began to laugh. It wasn't a loud laugh, more like a malicious giggle, persistent and almost sarcastic--Machi was one of the few people ion the world whose laughter actually resembled a 'hee hee' sound and he was laughing quite hard enough to have to double over. He didn't mean to react this way--given a little more warning he would have kept the front and told her he didn't care. Taken so off guard, however, he found himself cracking up, and it took him a bit to recover. Once he did, he straightened up, leaning back and crossing his arms over his chest so that he was effectively looking 'down' at Chie--the girl (who looked rather dumpy, he noticed) was taller than he was, but not by much, so it was a much easier trick than trying the same on Rayne had been.

"Really? Never I would have knowing." His voice was unkind and he smiled down on her mockingly.

She might have thought his attempt to look down on her--when she was taller, not by much, but still--was stupid, silly almost, had the laughter not already thrown her off. Great, the first person she runs into aside from Yosuke and they were crazy. Were they like this before the house, or was the house really that bad? She scowled at him, and found herself--though even she knew it probably wasn't her best idea--scolding the boy.

"Hey, I'm just trying to help, stop that! You're the one wandering around making all that noise anyway."

It was not the best idea. He gave her a withering look, still standing with his arms crossed and head tilted back. "I am have advice for you, girl," he replied, dragging it out as though talking to a child. Of course, the accent still made them hard to understand. "Is making no difference how much noise you are making. If monster is not kill you, other person will." Talking like this drowned out the music a fair bit and he was perfectly willing to accept that as an alternative to finding a quieter place, especially if this ugly girl was going to treat him like he was something stupid. "Are you meeting... woman with red hairs? She is killing me two time. Is nothing you can do for be safe." Describing Rayne woman was a stretch, and the way he spat the word out showed it--Anna was a woman, Lamiroir was a woman. Rayne was a many-mouthed bitch. Despite this, a crueller smile spread across his face, secretly revelling in his sudden superior role.
