Lorenzo had already seen the eyes in the hallway. While he had initially been concerned, even cautious around them due to the nature of the traps in his own manor, he had quickly found them to be harmless. The feeling of being being under constant surveillance by them was off-putting, not to mention walking over them created quite a mess, but all in all it was a minor inconvenience when compared to some of the night's other hauntings. Alphonse seemed considerably more bothered by the sight. He supposed that was understandable, offering the boy a quick pat on the head. "...I'd rather we didn't linger here," he said simply, all too eager to get away from the feeling of being watched and the faint and muffled, but still audible sounds of trunks and boxes shuffling about ( ... )

The eyes were unsettling for...more than one reason, honestly. Yes, there was the feeling of being watched but the memories of The Gate dominated that, as vague as they were. Those thousands of purple eyes staring back at him as he stood before the gate...barely a memory there, but the closest thing to one between the attempted resurrection and waking up in Lior...

He brushed those thoughts all away, though, as best as he could, and nodded to the old man, offering a weak smile. "...okay then." he said, meekly. He almost wanted to reach out and tug him along, but withheld the gesture, before beginning to hurry along the hall. It'd be best to just...get out of there faster, rather than idle around, especially if he were uncomfortable with it...

((ooc: ...so tag fails and LJ ate it >:|))

Lorenzo followed Alphonse in silence, keeping his hands behind his back as he walked. The knowledge that he was being watched and in turn, the idea that someone else was there was impossible to shake, but he was fully aware of the fact that no matter how many times he scanned the hallway, he would always find that the unknown presence was nothing more than his own paranoia. For the most part he refrained from looking down as well, ignoring the sickening sounds that accompanied the eyes being crushed beneath him, along with the mess it made. He could always clean up later ( ... )

Honestly, Alphonse almost would have preferred missing some of his senses to this. The feeling and the sound...he took as much care as he possibly could to tread carefully (but quickly), at least; trying his best to make sure that he crushed as few of them as possible. Both for the sake of preventing any pain to...whatever they were and to avoid the horrible sounds and feelings... He really didn't like this hall at all, with the way it currently was.

He stopped when he realised that Lorenzo had (mostly upon hearing him speak) and turned his attention back to the older man behind him, following his gaze to the door off of its hinges, too. That was...that was their room, then, wasn't it? It probably was. Then the door... "S-sorry..." Alphonse mumbled a weak apology, averting his eyes for a moment. Really, it was technically his fault that the door was broken down. So he'd...he'd died and created problems. But...it was just a door, right? So maybe he could do something. He hesitated, before partially beginning again. "Um..."

"It happens," Lorenzo responded simply, offering little more in the way of comfort. They were trapped in a house with an overabundance of monsters. Collateral damage was bound to happen, hardly anything to continue to remain upset. It wasn't as though the monsters had any regard for frivolous things such as privacy anymore than the residents did, though fortunately the latter was incapable of breaking doors down. "Hmm?" Lorenzo looked away from the broken door, locking his eyes on Alphonse as he began to speak, curious as to what the boy had to say. For as apathetic as Lorenzo generally was, since he had met Alphonse he had found himself caring more and more about what the younger alchemist had to say ( ... )
