Characters: Alfons, Rayne Setting: Small Library Time: Night 007, sometime before midnight Summary: Alfons becomes the house's second vampire Warnings: None, as of now.
Alfons had been silent, even on the way there. His mind had sat within itself, wandering, swimming...all of his thoughts converging within themselves, only to spout out in one single thought, one single idea...
...
He was going to leave his life behind. His old one...that which he had spent so much time trying to lengthen, trying to make more than what it was. He was futilely moving, running...running towards a goal that he knew wouldn't take, that wouldn't give...
And somehow, something gave. It wasn't what he had originally thought, but it gave.
Alfons slumped down on the ground, even at the sound of her voice.
Where was he?
He wasn't sure if he even knew, or if he even was willing to pay attention to everything.
He was going to give everything away.
Everything was going to change.
Why wasn't he panicking? Why wasn't he feeling afraid?
"[Do you?]" Rayne asked, the words leaving her mouth before she realized she had even thought them. It figured that he would be the one to make her lose control of not only her usual reserves, but her mouth as well. Kneeling down in front of him on the floor, there was no hesitance as she climbed into his lap, her legs straddling his. Cupping his face in her hands, she lifted his head to make him look at her, before ducking down to press her lips to the side of his throat, moving closer to the vein there to repeat the action.
"[Do you really?]" She asked again, her lips moving against his skin.
He had only thought that Edward and Edward alone would have the power to do that--to make him shiver and want to wrap his arms around a slender waist, pulling it close. But he was doing just that, fingers linked around the back as pulled her closer.
"[I...]" He let out a whisper of a breath, eyes lowering.
He trusted her. He did.
That had to be it. There was no other explanation. Otherwise, he wouldn't...
He wouldn't have accepted this.
"[I do.]" He whispered again, full of confidence now, pulling her to him without thinking. "[I do trust you.]"
Her breath hitched as Alfons' arms wrapped around her waist, instinctively adjusting her position to make being closer to him easier, her own arms moving to lightly wrap around his back. Feeling her heart pound in her chest, Rayne's eyes closed for a moment, face buried in the column of his neck. How long had it been since anyone had even bothered to make her feel so... accepted? Years. A few years.
Breath leaving her in a sigh, her lips again brushed against his neck, parting to let her tongue dart out to taste his skin. After a moment, she lightly scraped a shallow bite over his jugular, barely keeping from breaking the surface. She could hear more than see or feel the blood rushing just less than an inch from her... but something made her hesitate in completely biting down. Just... not yet.

What was he feeling? Anything?
"[It's okay.]" Alfons whispered. "[I...I trust you.]"
If you tell me, I might end up saying no.
