Last night baby sister and I went to the ballet. It was the Pacific Northwest Ballet's version of George Balanchine's Jewels. The three parts were Emeralds, Rubies and Diamonds. For those unaware, the PNB has their ballerinas clomping about like a herd of elephants and when on pointe it's worse. It's so distracting from the music and the sight of ( Read more... )

depending on lifecraptastics lets try for a go. i have my timeshare stuff there too that'll help with costs. we still could get our employee discount of car rental i think too.... as i don't htink i'll get moved to WA by then. we'll see over all of it.

ohhhh and,.... the floor is a large part of the noise issue thing with the feet. I bet it was the special spaced air pocket and materials to save on their joints. Could've been the area you were sitting in to get full audio of the feets too.

I'm not a fan of ballet, but I can enjoy a good performance. It's really disappointing to hear that they're STILL doing the stomping thing that kept me from ever going back after seeing the Nutcracker over 6 years ago. It just doesn't make sense and it's so distracting, I spent most of the performance wondering if it was worth tossing out the price of the ticket to go catch a movie. It's really sad when compared to the first performance of Nutcracker I saw in Eugene, OR. It was a small, local production, very entertaining, and the dancing was superb by comparison. The Superstars of Dance program had a Russian contestant from the Bolshoi Ballet and what I saw there was true ballet. No stomping, no squeaking. Grace.

There was some noise about the PNB not getting being able to sell the seats and I can't say it's a big mystery.
