The redhead girl nods, taking out a communicator much like the one Botan gave to Gaara. She puts it on a nearby table for all to view

The sleaze gulps. "Sure thing, pal. Hiei sez to tell ya that he an' Urameshi caught a band of low classes coming to a portal. He sez they aughtta be here by nightfall two days from now. He sez they tried to stop some, but they're slippin through the cracks."

Botan nods. "You're a pervert and a cheater, but you're a coward. If Hiei didn't threaten you, you would've come here. Gaara, he's legit."

"Hehehe, yeah. Now, hows about you two lovely ladies give me a little reward, eh?"

The sand reforms again, forming heavy stone shackles. But at least the idiot is let down.

The commotion has also attracted a fair crowd. Baki, the siblings' former teacher is one of them.

"Kazekage-sama? What's going on here."

"Baki. Good timing. Take this creature with you and learn everything he knows, then report back to me."

"Yes, Kazekage-sama."

Botan glares at the retreating figure's back. "I really hate that guy. What a chauvinistic...grrr!"

Hinageshi looks up at Botan. "D-Do you think Hiei's alright?" Botan gives her an odd look. "Of course. He's fine. He just didn't want to come here himself."

"Oh." The smaller girl looks disappointed. Until she looks at Gaara. "Akk! Kazekage-sama! On your arm!"

If Gaara is to look down, he would see a foul, thin winged insect on his sleeve.

He looks down, and once more the sand moves. First to swat it away, then to capture.

Botan jumps. "Ekk! The Maikai insects are already here!"

Hinageshi pales. "That must mean the portal's closer than we thought.."

The blue haired girl nods, a few flying towards her. The get within a few inches, and CRACKLE. They fall dead to the ground, a white light slightly admitting from Botan's body.

This damned soon? Gaara is mentally cursing his luck up and down.

"You said that you can put up barriers, right? Do you need anything? If not, then please get to it."

Botan nods. "Alright. Hinageshi, let's do this."

A few moves of the hands, and a white light emits from both of their hands. It drifts up like a cloud, over the sand buildings. The light begins to take a shape, a bubble around the city. It's there, but only those spiritually gifted will see it.

Once this is done, Hinageshi falls to her knees. Botan sways precariously.

Oh shi-! Gaara quickly moves to support Botan before she too falls, and gestures for a Chuunin he spots in the crowd to assist Hinageshi.

"Please tell me you only need to rest," he whispers quietly to Botan.

She grins, a lopsided grin that says 'don't worry about me'.

"Don't sweat it. I've just never used so much spirit energy before." A laugh. "Rest will get it back up. Of course, I might just have to throw up first, but it'll be okay, babe."

A brief softening of his expression. "Alright. Lets get you guys up so you can rest." Before you know it, he has her up in his arms and pretty much bouncing from wall to wall with charka-fueled bursts to get up to their quarters, the chuunin following closely behind.

She holds onto him, looking up at his face. Slowly rocked by the movement and his body heat, she drifts off to sleep.

She wakes up a couple of hours later, rubbing her eyes. She notices Hinageshi still asleep next to her, so she gets up quietly.

Gaara is not in teh rooms when she wakes up. He's been busy. If Botan looks out teh window she'll see with what. The village is on high alert, teh streets are empty save for ninja. Most in uniform, but some in civilian clothes. And there are ANBU around.

She looks down, scanning the area. "This really is war, isn't it, Koenma-sama?" She closes her eyes, as if that would make it go away. "Why does this have to happen? These people, they don't have anything to do with this."

Then, she breaks down. "Please, Koenma-sama, don't take him from me. I-I don't know what I'd do..just let this stop, K-Koenma-sama.."

While Gaara would have wanted to check in on Botan, he doesn't have the time. Right now he's about to catch up with Temari and see if she has any news.

Temari looks at her brother. "We've contacted the villages, so now all we can do is wait. You know the Hokage will stand by us, and with this new information, the others probably will too." She puts her hand on her hip. "So, we're just on the offensive now? What about Botan's people. Are they sending any help?" She sounds bitter.

Speak of the devil, Botan has been in the shower, and is now looking at herself in the mirror. What could she do. She was not going to be the damsel in distress. No way in hell.
